Early memories of Chris by Roger Mulley

It is with great sadness that I write a few words about my friend Chris. I first met Chis when we both taught at Stanhope Junior School in Gedling, Nottingham in 1972. We became friends after team teaching together. He was a fun and talented teacher. In 1976 I lodged with Chris for a term at his then house in Dunstan Street, Netherfield. He helped me move down to Hampshire that summer, even braving a van full of beehives and bees, that was the kind of person Chris was, always willing to go that extra mile to help. We shared a love of the natural world. Chris was also an avid reader and music lover. I still have fond memories of the books he recommended and I still listen to his suggested music. Chris was a great storyteller and his joke telling and timing was brilliant. Even though I hadn`t seen much of Chris and Sue recently, we swapped Christmas cards and Chris will always have a special plce in my heart. His untimely death was very very sad.
